London Through Signs

I have been particularly impressed by many of the signs I have seen here throughout London, below I have attached a few of my favorites. To start, one major trend that I noticed here in London is the use of light bulb lettering. You can see examples of this in the Brighton Pier, All Saints, and Nelly Duff signs. I am a big fan of this type of signage, I find that it not only gives the restaurant or store a classic look, but that it is also is very effective in terms of legibility, especially at night when lit up! Something else that I enjoy quite a bit in some of these signs is there vintage aesthetic. I notice this especially in the Portobello Market sign, it uses bold colors and an easy to read metal font in all capitals. What drew me into this particular sign, was its organic shape, I love the way the letters curve and change point size, yet still very work together. Another example of successful point size change throughout one sign, is the Brighton Pier sign. The beginning and end letters start as the biggest of letters and get smallest in the middle, this too creates an arc-like shape. Moving on to one of the restaurant signs, I really adore the classic diner sign. I was attracted to this particular sign because of the bright neon lights. I think this sign is very appropriate for the restaurant, I didn't get a chance to eat there, but just from taking a look inside I feel as though the sign suggests the same feeling and atmosphere as the inside of the restaurant, which I find to be a particularly important aspect to signage.  The last sign I included in this post is the Poppies Fish & Chips sign, I decided to add this one because I loved the mix of fonts as well as the design aspect on it. I find that this sign also has unique vintage vibes to it as well. Hope you enjoyed my post about signage, talk again soon!
