Today, I spent much of my day browsing through the many markets in the Shoreditch and Brick Lane area. After bumping into my GrC teacher at a coffee shop, she recommended we stop by the Backyard Market, another hidden market just around the corner. She told us they had a lot of crafts and cool design merchandise, as soon as she said that I knew it was going to be a deadly afternoon for my wallet. Within one minute of entering the market I found my new favorite market stand of all time, handmade genuine leather goods that can be customized! I was drooling, didn't even make it to any of the other stands after that. The best part of this discovery was that everything was reasonably priced.
The young women working the stand was very sweet and even put up with me when I somehow managed to bring all of my friends over to get matching keychains with me. I wasn't able to get a picture of her personalizing our keychains, but I managed to find one on her Facebook page and will attach it below so you can see how she does it! She takes small letter impressions and hammers them onto strips of leather, kind of like letterpress in a way!

I love these handmade leather goods because they are unique, beautiful, and most importantly functional. I plan on going back to get a few more keychains (priced at
£5 by the way!) as souvenirs for my friends back home. I think they make great gifts, she also makes leather wallets, passport holders, purses, notebooks, and many more things.
